Hello Group,
If this post is in the wrong catagory, please forgive me and point me to the correct one.

I keep getting a popup whenever I try to enter text in explorer. It does not happen all the time but about 1 out of every 15 times whenever Im prompted to enter a text in any given location when Im online.
The popup says "A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer" "Name: MICROSOFT WINDOWS Publisher: MICROSOFT WINDOWS"

I want this message gone and never want to see it again. This popup CONSTANTLY interrupts my text input and is infuriating.

Please help me to get rid of this popup so that it never re-appears again.
Thank you,
John windows popup.png

John, check the box that says "Don't show me this message again" and then click "Allow". I don 't think you will see the popup again.

Hi, cbwilsha.
Thanks for your reply. I do what you suggested every single time and it makes no effect. In fact, the window just popped up again as I started to type this message reply to you.
Surely someone here has experienced this problem and knows how to get to the root cause and solve it so that it never appears again.
Thanks, John

Have you tried clicking on the words "protected mode" that appear to be a link to see if you can get some clues there? Also, you might want to turn off UAC if you have it on.

My fix would be simpler......

STOP using I.E. (anything) and use only Mozilla Firefox (latest version).

I was forced to STOP using I.E. many years ago and had to use Netscape.
When Firefox first showed up, I started using it in it's Beta form and I was right there on day ONE,
with over 1 Million other users, when Firefox 1.0 was released. I've never regretted that move one bit.

So the one word fix for most I.E. problems is "Firefox".
"Works for me"
