So I'm in Norway. On Wednesday I went down to visit my husband's friend at a startup work space in Oslo, at this place: Introducing Startup Summer 2012 teams | Startup Norway

It turned out we had missed the representative from Microsoft by about half an hour. He was down there to give a presentation on Windows 8, the developer environment for Metro apps, and the Surface. And just in case people needed some encouragement to go listen to the Microsoft fellow, he had brought along 144 beers for fewer than 20 people.

I was really bummed that I missed the Microsoft guy, evidently they only have one developer in the work space working on a metro app, and that guy has never used windows 8 on a touch device. It might have been fun to ask interesting questions about things like: "Hey Microsoft! Did you know that developers are making apps that are dependent on the codecs they have installed on their own machine without telling the user what codecs she'll need?" And "What do you intend to do about it?"

Oh well, I was in time to get slightly fewer than 7.2 free beers.

Hope they visit Australia ... I might be able to get drunk enough to stop the recurring kaleidoscopic nightmares I have of Win8!

I reckon given the price of beer in Norway it would have been cheaper to give away Win8 licences.....
