The price is so low - they will sell a lot.

Not sure people will want to replace their existing o/s.

Makes more sense to dual -boot.

I have no intention of replacing anything with win8.

Therefore - no it is not an "upgrade".

I'll buy at that price then pop in it the drawer - use it as an upgrade to Win9. That's me, forever hopeful.

Can't see the point of dual-booting unless it's simply to have a play around. For me I'll stick with what I have as that's where I do the real work. Keep an eye on these forums to make sure I'm not missing anything.

    This is fascinating.

MS is producing their own tablets - they don't have to "pay" the $85 license fee.

That gives them a huge advantage over the oem's -they can afford to up the component quality to hit a given consumer price point.

Now they are giving away the Pro upgrade - not exactly helpful to the oem's either.

Let us see how the oem's react.

This just might be the catalyst that galvanizes a massive change in the oem stance.

We might be lucky and finally see a genuine viable Linux alternative - with desktop capability.

    That would be fantastic.

    That is exactly the point.

Win8 is so unpopular not all that many will want to pay serious money for it.

A lot will go $39.99 just to play around.

Those few who would have paid serious money for it - will be delighted.

What a difference a couple of days make. As you can see in my system specs, I moved back over to 7 today. My computer is basically a gaming rig and the display drivers provided on Windows 8 just aren't making it.Plus I noticed my Cpu temps run too hot.Other than that I still like 8 a lot, maybe these problems will be solved by the time RTM is out
