    Eyes hurting!

    Guys,

What are options and settings or things to do when you have to stare at computer screens all day long and your eyes definitely are feeling the strain..

It could be the lighting of the room.. or is there factors like Refresh rate I should be setting and things like that??

I currently use a TV as my monitor though.. (32 inch)

    And Nvidia graphics card..

    thanks..

32" screens are not common, unless you are gaming or video editing.

I used to wear Tri-Focals for when I used to scan in documents from microfilm & microfiche, along with having to look at a computer monitor and pull sheet all at the same time.

You will find that most people that get eye strain, is because you either need glasses that are a minimum of Bi-Focals, change your font size on that large of a monitor, or needing to backlight behind the monitor with a light, even if you have the room lights on.

Ok the lighting could be better in the room I stare at my computer using a TV to see.

I'm curious would buying a 27 inch monitor be better than using a 32 inch TV in terms of Eye Strain and health..?

    thanks

It could. When I was working, I would use a bedside lamp with a 23 watt CFL. I moved it until I could find the sweet spot, so that the light was able to surround the whole backside of the monitor.

Poor lighting is really bad, but you could try using Track Lighting or 4' LED lights above yowork area at home.

If renting, I would just use a unit with a cord with a plug. If you own, you can use a small raceway painted the same color as the walls and ceiling, then place a box on top of an existing outlet, to allow you to use THHN/THWN to connect to the outlet.

Just use a simple fan remote control to turn the lights on and off.

I presume your tv doesn't have any settings like lcd's to lower the brightness. If so I'd try that. In researching computer eye strain that is the first thing most pages list. Then they'll go into refresh rates and/or flourescent lighting.

Madmordigan it does, because they are using a 32" HDTV. The problem is not with the settings, it is because of a dimly lit room.
