Solved Windows 8/10, Error 0xc0000034.

Any help needed, my aunt sent me her laptop for recovery, she said it used to work fine until she upgraded to windows 10, then she couldn't start up to the welcome screen anymore.

I took a look at it and i still don't understand what is causing the error, must have been wiped of its OS.

Anyway, back to what i know.

The laptop runs originally on a windows 8, there is no way to rollback though.

The error is titled 0xc0000034 and it seems to be the file(or map) \BCD missing from the drive.

I checked on some forums about how i could recover it and most of them implied using CMD, but i can't even get into CMD, neither any recovery options on the laptop.

I tried going into BIOS but the same screen would come up when i pressed F10.

I also tried mounting with windows 8.1 on my USB(by using rufus), but still it takes me to the same error, a good thing is that it is at least reading the USB it seems.

None of F9,F10,F11 works, they just redirect me back to the error.

After about 20seconds the screen turns off.

The error means some boot files are missing.
You need to be able to boot from repair media to fix this error.
Below is a method to repair the boot files, you need to boot from repair media to do it.

When you tried to get to the BIOS, was that before Windows tried to load?

When booted from repair media:

• Click 'Repair your computer',
• Select 'Troubleshoot',
• Click 'Advanced options',
• Click 'command Prompt',
• Type following commands and hit enter after each line of command:

How do i make a repair media on a USB? Is there any way to download and mount it via rufus? My aunt did not send any DVD's with the laptop.

I tried going into BIOS both by pressing "ESC" when powering the laptop, to "pause" the load, so it would forward to the commands in second picture. But still it redirects me to the error, if i don't press ESC when it boots directly, it redirects to the error screen where i later press ESC and return to the commands. But none of them work.

On a system running the same OS as the laptop malfunctions, use below link to create recovery media.
The tutorial says cd is needed, but a USB will work too.

Will 8.1 work? I have a laptop laying around with a 8.1, but i don't know anyone who has 8.

Another question, how am i supposed to boot the the repair media when i can't boot the USB?

A system must run the same OS, not OS version (i.e. pro, n, single language, etc) for the recovery media to work.

Alright, i'll give it a go, i'll repost when i have the USB mounted with the Recovery media.
