Let me start by saying my laptops a toshiba satellite.

Ok, yesterday, I wanted to extend my windows 8 partition because I needed more space. I have windows 7 as my primary partition with the most space so I wanted to shrink it and extend the windows 8 partition. I found out I couldn't with disk manager so I installed a 3rd party progrAm to do it. While it was doing it, I had to go so I turned off my computer while it was in its operation. Now, I can't get in because it would keep saying attempting repairs on the boot screen.

I don't have another computer but I can access one but I hope there is a solution that won't take another computer to be done. My windows 8 cd isn't with me right now so I can't use that. Also, I'm not good in computers so try to keep it simple lol.

Best advice I can give is stay away from my computer, please!

lol.

Do not turn off computers in the middle of operations like resizing disks - it's asking for trouble.

If you have your windows 7 DVD, boot up from that and let it attempt startup repairs, several times, until your system works again, or completely fails to work, then go further and try to do in place install repair, which should get windows 7 going again. Don't try to install or repair from Windows 8 yet. It will only complicate things.

Which partitioner did you use?

If you interrupted a resize, you might be able to get it to recover the partitions - I assume it has a partition recovery function - you would need it on some kind of boot media .

Otherwise, you could run it from another machine- if you can plug it into yours.

What have you done right now will get your computer into trouble. Should not abort the processing of installation. Even how heavy my installation is, I will never interrupt with it. Keep in mind not to interrupt installation even WE are not that good in computer cause that's a risky situation. :(

Sounds like you had the 7 partition first, with the 8 partition after. So the free space was at the beginning of the Windows 8 partiton.
That would mean the partitioner MOVED the partition back, as there are a lot of very critical files that have to be at the very beginning of the partition.

I don't know how to recover from this. Shutting down a computer while altering partitions is simply not done, so there hasn't been much need for a contingency plan.
