"get windows 10" box keeps popping up

My pc goes into sleep mode whenever I close my laptop. Every time I open it, the "get windows 10" box appears in the middle of my screen and quite frankly, it's really starting to annoy the hell out of me lol. What do I have to do to make this box not appear?

Delete kb3035588 or something, Google "Delete GWX" and it will point you to the update.

You can check installed updates in Windows Update. Look for and uninstall kb3035583, then restart computer and then check for new updates. It will show up again. Right click and select hide. Another thing you can do is deselect give me recommended updates like important updates, to prevent future installs.

There is also this reg tweak:

Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums

There is also the GWX control panel program that automates it and does other stuff I believe.

There are around twelve KB's that are a part of the 10 upgrade. The GWX control panel deletes them and stops them from coming back.

I installed the GWX control panel whiched fixed the problem I was having, but do I have to keep the control panel installed for the box to stop popping up?

    No...
I run the portable version (non-installer version)

the control panel is a monitor - and the issue is MS Updates keep changing back the registry key to allow the upgrade...

run it after installing windows updates... And always check for new verions to prevent the updrade..

the choice is yours.. If you moniter, you will see if anything changes..

"strong-arming people with forced downloads and spammer-like no-choice wording on upgrade prompts"
'Get Windows 10' prompt adopts malware-like tactics to lure you into upgrading | PCWorld

Personally, have hidden any and all w10 related updates from the start, so far so good. Basically only installing security related updates.

If one has got the 'malware' already, try going trough the lists of w10 related installed updates (overviews available on the net) and uninstall the lot, then change to manual update and from then on systematically check everything offered, hiding all that is unwanted.

4wd it is easier to just use the Control Panel to keep them from coming back, for those users who do not know how to hide the KB's.

There is a great little program, called simply "GWX Control Panel".
Download GWX Control Panel - MajorGeeks

Install it, read the prompts on the screen, and check the ones you want to activate.
You can tell windows to NOT download ANY OS Upgrades.

I've used it on all my Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PC's. It works!

    Happy Holidays
