Different transfer speeds for the same harddrive?

I have two of the same Samsung M3 2TB external portable harddrives.

I use them to backup files, but when transferring exactly the same files, one harddrive transfers about double the speed than the other.

How can this be?

I'm been thinking and wonder if it's the usb ports.
All of them are supposed to be USB 3.0 (they all have blue) but perhaps one of them is not USB 3.0?
Any way I can check that all ports are USB 3.0?
