Ok, lets see if we can throw the PC into automatic Recovery...

Remove the Battery from the PC - and leave the power cord plugged in
Power on the PC and just after the LOGO appears - pull the power plug
do this 3 times in a row..
The fourth time do not unplug the power cord - allow the PC to boot normally..
This should boot the PC into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)

Now if the keyboard does not work - you have other issues..

Also you can use an adapter to connect that PC's HDD to another PC to read the HDD - but not sure if that will matter, from what I've read so far..

    Hi Kyhi,,

Sorry to to say , that didn't work. This pc needs to be repaired screen just doesn't want to leave.

The keyboard does work, someone, said try another one, just in case my laptop's kb didn't work, but it does.

Okay what about if I get new hard drive for the Dell? It did come preinstalled with Windows 8,,,, i made the recovery disks, when I 1st got the laptop. But then I was thinking the recovery part is one the hard drive. I can win lol

    Thanks

A bad hard drive would not prevent you from hitting the F12 or F2 key and entering the Boot menu or bios

Remove HDD to test.. the F2 and F12 keyboard input should still work

F8 is an option in the BCD and not enabled by default since Win8 - But F2 and F12 should always work

Some Dell's use DEL instead of F2 to get into Bios settings

I have removed the hard drive and couldn't get into anything. I've tried every combo I can think of. I was just in bois and boot options, before this happened. I ve tried alot of stuff.

    I think it's a hopeless case. I just don't get it.

    Thanks KYHI

Might be due to a problem with the A19 bios - Dell XPS 17 L702X - Can not enter BIOS Set-Up - General Hardware - Laptop - Dell Community

(Dunno what that reference to "nodding community" is on that solution posted tho')

I've taken out the ram, hard drive, CD/DVD drive, did the change the ram into different slots, reset the bios battery out, no luck with anything.

Oh and tried all the combos of keys,,but like I said, I've been in f12,f2 and f8 before, so I know they worked at one time.

The a19 drive sounds really good, but I'm locked out of windows, so I cannot download anything.

I looked up The nodding community and I am clueless lol.

    Thanks KYHI

A19 is a bios file (bios update)

A11 is also available on Dell Website...

Remove all but one stick of ram and see if it defaults to bios setup
    ???
