    oooOOOooo! So the upshot is 'working as intended (but not necessarily as advertised)'. That actually does not entirely surprise me; Vista 'SuperFetch' suffered from the same disclaimer, and as I recall even a member of the Vista dev team admitted that SF in Vista was a 'good idea, implemented badly'. Well, I'm no stranger to the registry, so I'll happily give your regkey hack a go, and thank you for the lowdown.

    I think that is true about a lot of Microsoft's ideas (e.g. good ideas badly implemented).

    YMMV, it works for me.

    You have to implement the hack and then set your templates.
