Hello everyone,

I am using windows 8.1 and off late I am having an issue when locking/unlocking screens.
When I lock my screen and am away for some time (15-30 minutes), windows will close all my open programs. So basically when I unlock my screen, all my open programs are closed. I fail to understand what the issue is.
Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Could it be putting the machine in sleep mode? 15 minutes sleep time-out is a typical power saver setting.

Thank you for your reply.

No it is not putting the machine to sleep. The machine is on. Its just that all open programs have been closed.

You might try this freeware that makes it easy to look through the log files:
Alternative to standard event viewer of Windows

Maybe one or more of the programs will fire an event when presumably the window is closed involuntarily.

btw there are many fine free system utilities on that site. He has a wrapper program called NirLauncher that has them all in a portable folder tree. No install needed.
