    Enable Snapping Release 8

AddictiveTips Blog ArchiveEnable Windows 8 Snap Feature And How To Snap Metro Application

So this would be ideal for desktops, but it does not seem to work.

Is there a solution for this. For me the only program that does not fill the screen is Adobe when started from Metro.

Correction, one can download this here:

Windows 8 Snap sample in C#, C++, JavaScript for Visual Studio 2012 RC

    Anyone having experience with this?

    Thanks

    Jeff

That reg edit didn't work for me either. I think Microsoft killed that hack in the Release Preview.

Going back to something you said in your other post,

"For me the only program that does not fill the screen is Adobe when started from Metro."

The SNAP feature you're talking about only applies to Metro Apps, Adobe isn't a metro app? Having it not open full screen isn't because the Metro Snap feature isn't enabled.

    Well Alpha,

Adobe is opened via Metro filling less then half the screen, but when I open a PDF docu in the metro full screen is filled.

It would be nice if MS could offer a solution for this.

When I open IE (Metro) full screen is used, but an both sides I loose too much space. Max 50% of the screen is REALLY used, the rest is filled with nothing, but not usuable either.

So anyone with a solution where we all could benefit from?

    thanks

Have a look at the icon for your PDF files. Mine by default open with the "Windows Reader". That is a Metro app, so double clicking a PDF will open that full screen. If I open Adobe Acrobat from the Metro screen that is a desktop application. Try this, right click the Adobe tile on your Metro Start Screen so its check marked. Then down at the bottom of the screen click on "open file location". Now go to the properties for the shortcut and in the RUN box change from Normal Window to Maximized. Now it should open full screen.

sorry Alpha, my bad, I do not want a full screen. My 26 inch monitor allows me to open 2 screens one beside the other, that is what I want in Metro.

In fact I want more flexibility Metro wise.

    thanks

The Metro Snap should work on a 26 inch monitor? It's not 50 50 though, I think it's more like 2/3 1/3. Metro Snap only works with Metro apps and only on the one Metro screen. Keep in mind that just because an application opens from the Metro Start Screen, that doesn't mean its a metro app. The regular windows 7 snap feature still works in Windows 8. I agree though, Metro needs multi monitor support.

Well Alpha, it seems we are the only 2 who care about this. Strange

I think a lot of people are avoiding Metro as much as they can. I do and only use Metro apps if there is no desktop app equivalent. Eventually when I get bored with Windows 8 I'll go back to Windows 7, I'm almost there now. I was trying out the new features and noticed I didn't have Metro Snap. I tried the reg edit and it didn't work. It's no bigey that it doesn't work for me.
