    Let's recap.

If you boot to Safe Mode with Networking then rotate works correctly, right?

Since BD does not seem to be the cause, you need to move on to disabling startup processes and services as I described. Just remember to record everything that is currently starting on the Startup tab of Task Manager and the Services tab of msconfig (after you check the Hide all Microsoft services).

Then disable all for each of the above and test. If at any point rotate works correctly then something you disabled caused hte problem so you start re-enabling then a few at a time till you find the one.

    Here goes.
    BD uninstalled.

Aright, let's do something entirely different here.
Pics from a digital camera instead of a phone.
    First , vertical.
    Second, vertical rotated 90 CW.

DL from 8 forum to desktop, rotated and reattached.
    Ok, why does that work?

    I'm stumped sorry to say.
Does it still rotate correctly if you boot to Safe Mode or was that a fluke?

    Beats me.
I've been playing so much I'm wondering if in safe mode before I snagged the wrong pic.

Rich, I really appreciate all you have done for/with me here.
For the time being I'll just do one of two things; take pics in landscape or upload with W7.

One day we will wonder how we missed something so simple.

    Thanks again.

I have a vague memory of someone else reporting a similar problem but I can't find it or if there ever was a resolution. If I find it I'll post the link here.

One last thought. What if you move the pics off the Desktop into a work folder under Documents? Do you get the same problem?
