    Recovery Discs

My old computer, running Windows Vista died 18 months ago and I have a new one running Windows 8.1.
My problem is that I have just found a set of 4 recovery discs that I created, but I can't remember when I did it.
There is nothing wrong with my computer; I just want to know is it safe to insert a disc to check creation date or whatever
so I know which system they are for.
I don't want to risk having my hard drive wiped and Vista being installed on my new computer.
Please tell me if I can simply insert a disc to look at it without it automatically affecting my computer.
    I hope this makes sense.

Just do not let any installer or program run..

when the disk is inserted and read, you may get notification message - top right
choose explore files if anything starts to run - close it.. then open file explorer and browse cd

Thanks KYHI. Nothing happened at all, so don't know what I will do if I need to use them, but I could see the creation date in File Explorer which answered the question for me.

Just as the title says. I have no disc it came with pre installed media. I did however get a program that was able to extra the key from my bios. Will that help with anything? It's a Sony T13 laptop.
EDIT 7-11-2014. The solution was Windows 8 repair re-install. Warning it is slow, may not work easily for Windows 8 (not 8.1) serial owners and resets quite a lot of your advanced settings. So be prepared to spend time in manually changing your settings back to what they were.... I'm running...
Hi there. Some of you still use DVD re-writable Discs - and although they are reasonably cheap it's annoying if you want to use one and you've run out. I still make the odd DVD from MP4/MKV blu ray rips for my folks who just want to play movies on a "stand alone" domestic DVD player. Some...
Windows not recognizing any discs. in Drivers & Hardware
Hi. Here's my problem. My PC with Windows 8 Pro doesn't read any kind of discs. I first tried a movie then it reads, a little disc appears on the cursor which means that the disc is being read. But all of a sudden, it fails at the end and doesn't read the disc. Even a bootable disc, it just stays...
I received my Inspiron 17R 5720 on 15th and set about downloading and burning the System Recovery Discs follow some help from the forum. The first disc took some 45 mins (including ejecting the disc and asking for it to be re-loaded for verification?) and then finally said there was an error and...
Making recovery discs in General Support
Have just bought a laptop which is installed with W8. Can somebody please advise how to go about making some recovery discs. What files need to be downloaded and how many discs do I need. I am not an IT expert so some basic advise would be appreciated
Hey guys, I've just been encountering a weird problem with my computers LG Blu-ray drive lately. I'll put in a disc, the light on the front will flash twice and nothing will happen. But if I open the 'My Computer' page on the desktop, the drive will show up as empty for a few seconds, and then the...
