Solved Recovery Discs

My old computer, running Windows Vista died 18 months ago and I have a new one running Windows 8.1.
My problem is that I have just found a set of 4 recovery discs that I created, but I can't remember when I did it.
There is nothing wrong with my computer; I just want to know is it safe to insert a disc to check creation date or whatever
so I know which system they are for.
I don't want to risk having my hard drive wiped and Vista being installed on my new computer.
Please tell me if I can simply insert a disc to look at it without it automatically affecting my computer.
I hope this makes sense.

Just do not let any installer or program run..

when the disk is inserted and read, you may get notification message - top right
choose explore files if anything starts to run - close it.. then open file explorer and browse cd

Thanks KYHI. Nothing happened at all, so don't know what I will do if I need to use them, but I could see the creation date in File Explorer which answered the question for me.
