Computer hangs if left idle and after monitor turns off

I am new to the forum. I am facing the issue that if i leave the computer idle for couple of minutes and the monitor turns off, after couple of minutes fan starts running in full speed and the computer will not respond. The only option then is to hard shutdown and turn it back on.

    Here are some preferences:

Monitor: Set to turn off after 15 minutes
    Sleep: Never Sleep
HardDisk: Turn off after 180 minutes (On AC Power)
    Hybrid Sleep: Off
    USB Selected Suspending: Enabled

    My system configuration:

    Lenovo T440P
Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 with latest patches (updates till yesterday)
    Core i7 - 2.5 GHZ Processor [Intel i7-4710MQ]
    16GB RAM DDR3 [Corsair Vengeance]
    512GB Samsung SSD 850 PRO

    Actions that I have taken:

Installed latest Intel HD4600 & Nvidia G730M Drivers
Check if network adapters are allowed to goto sleep
    Install all windows update

Any help in this matter will be highly appreciated. Tell me what you need and i will post it immediately, like event logs or anything.

Is this a company laptop or one that you personally own? If the fan is kicking in at that point. Something is eating up CPU cycles.

Thanks for the reply, its a personally owned laptop. Actually I don't know why but i think it's not something is eating the CPU, its more like the hardware as halted, to prevent over heating it kick in full speed rather than waiting for automatic RPM increase or decrease of the speed. However, this is just a guess.

I can install and do anything on the laptop, let me know what you have in mind.

It crashed again. The last event in viewer before restarting is the following, maybe it will help:

Are you running something in the background that gets activated when the computer goes idle? I know that programs like Folding@Home can be set to only run when the computer is idle. Barring that, I would run a virus scan on the machine. You could have something that runs in the background doing bitcoin mining or something similar.

I resolved the issue. No one would believe what it was. Logitech Setpoint installed on the PC, uninstalled and the issue is gone -_-.
I started searching for my error but since i couldn't solve it, started to look for errors with similarities. Thanks to broe23, i started checking for 1005 utilization when monitor off and other people's whose computer didnt get stuck saw that logitech caused 100% CPU when monitor turned off. Uninstall and Poof ...issue gone.

    Thanks Everyone

I stopped loading it, because unless you are managing different keyboards, mice, etc. There is no need for the extra software.

I have seen a sub-process of Services lock up the system, and beat the CPU to death. Sysinternals is one way to find out. Resource Management is the other if you can remember the process to find the culprit.

the happiness was short lived, we are back to square one. Even removed the logitech unfiying USB, but its started getting stuck again, sorry guys need ur help again.

    Any plan of action?
    I was thinking the following:
    1. Just reboot system and keep it on the login screen without logging in, if it hangs there then there is a definite hardware issue. If it doesnt then it means some software might be causing it. What do you think?
    2. reboot in safe mode and see the same?

Thanks for all your help again.
