Lost programs from refreshing PC Windows 8.1

I have recently refreshed my PC as a malfunction has occurred when starting it up. I chose the option to refresh my PC as it states that my files will not be lost, but I did not know my programs will be lost. Now my Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 is gone which I don't have the product key to anymore and also all my songs stored in my iTunes are gone (as I don't keep a copy of my music files into my PC). This devastates me and I do not know what to do, please help me.

As to everything being saved, suggest you read the white lettering in the blue box in the link, entitled Refresh your PC. Notice where is says that "Apps you installed from discs or websites will be removed": How to give your Windows 8 PC a clean start with PC Refresh

Also, the ONLY way you can get everything back from a prior time is to do a full image backup of your PC. Even System Restore will only restore the Operating System, not your files or data.

To get your files back, I suggest using a Windows data recovery app. One free one is know as Recuva. The best one I've seen is Active@File Recovery Pro - and while it's free to install and try out, using it to recover files requires buying a license.
