Search does not find certain programs

I like to press the Windows Key and start typing the name of the program I'm trying to open.
This works for most of my major programs and games, but certain executables and files will not show up in the search results.
It is usually smaller programs. The one that is bothering me at this moment is VoluMouse.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Volumouse\volumouse32.exe
If I just type Volumouse into the search bar it says no results. Even pressing enter brings up a big white metro search screen that also says no results.
If I type the entire directory path into the search, then it finds it no problem.
Also if I pin the application to the start menu, then just typing Volu into the search finds it right away.
The problem is I don't want a lot of icons crowding up my start menu.
Is there any way to force windows to remember this executable without pinning it to start?

Thanks.

Have you tried adding that location to the areas being indexed? Start Menu is included by default but Program files are not as seen here,

Hi derekimo, thanks for your response!
That is an excellent thought and gave me very high hopes. However it does not seem to have helped.
I waited until it was done indexing the entire Program Files(x86) folder and rebooted my machine, but it still does not find the volumouse program when I type Volumouse into the windows menu search field.
I even tried having it just index the volumouse folder with the same result.

I do think this is on the right track, and there may be some other options with indexing I can fiddle with.

For now I was able to put a shortcut to the program in the "Windows > Start Menu > Programs" folder. It shows up when I search, and doesn't appear on my start menu, so I'm satisfied.
