how can i delete the windows install files on thumb drive

i no this proly a dumb question but iv never had to do this b 4 and idk much about the software side of computers.

my old hdd faild in my pc so i just ordered a new ssd and im gonna be installing windows 8.1 on it by usb

however i am still gonna need to install my mobos drivers after the windows is done.
i would just use the dvd but i lost the mobos dvd awhile ago so thats outa the question!

so how do i delete the windows 8.1 installation media(i used the media creation tool)
so i can download my drivers onto the usb with my laptop and and install them

or is there a way i can keep the installation media on there and install the drivers?

Just get another USB, since they are super cheap these days. As for any drivers that Windows does not install. Just lod on the extra USB. Keep the Windows 8 USB for any repairs to Windows, etc.

You can get 16 GB Sansdisk unit for under $6 at newegg.com.

As for formatting one. You plug it into the USB port and right clock, choose Format then Quick Format.

i dont have the money for another usb stick(im on ssi only get 700 a month) but would doing that quick format erase the installation media so i could use it to install the drivers with?

once i was done getting windos set up i was planing on useing my drive for a recovery disk so in case something hapens down the road il have the usb lol

Yes a format is exactly that. It formats the device, so that you have an empty device to load more info on it.

See if someone can burn them to a CD for you, or has a spare thumb drive for you to borrow.
