Ok i will nutshell but give details. So my laptop is 4-5 years old.Physically its wear and tear and i'm on it constantly but nothing too serious that can't be fixed by the geek squad.Well here for the past month my Fan has been making a loud screeching noise.Something is extremely wrong with the fan..Apparently if i let it resume like this it shuts my computer right back off.Rarely, but it will even boot it system repair mode for some reason , the screen will flicker , then it will shut off. The fan apparently can be dangerous (to my system) and scary.Well i decided to pry my computer open from the side a little and slip
a thick piece of paper in between where the fan is and not only did the noise stop but it started functioning perfectly.I was amazed and this was a good thing but like a month later it started to shut off.It would shut off and not come back on for 4-6 days at a time. I've automatically ruled out that it overheats since when this happens i am surfing the web or playing on my bluestacks. I don't game heavily anymore (For several reasons). It will shut off for 4-6 days and not power back on and i can't figure out the cause but i have some theories/assumed culprits
1.The Fan - I desperately need a fan change and the fan could be destabilizing which is causing great malfunction and grief to my computer. This is understandable since the computer IS nearing 5 years of age. It's still a machine and must be treated as such.
2.The battery - My battery is quite drained. I would think 4-5 years would do quite a number on one's computer battery.
Especially with how much i use it. I did a little research and apparently the battery can cause issues. When it was off i even
tried plugging it in with the battery out of it and it still would not turn on.
3.It's a hardware issue and my computer is malfunctioning - Though it seems highly unlikely since the computer is still fast and functions perfectly if its a hardware issue then i think i can personally handle this.
4.The charger - This too is highly unlikely since i basically hoard chargers like its no tomorrow.Chargers don't like me but here recently everything has been pretty decent.I haven't had an issues from it though i often check to make sure its not smothered.
I am taking it to get the best care week after next. I already have 200$ saved to cover the expenses and accumulating. I am putting more and more away as i go but i think its time. I get sick when my laptop is away from me and i don't want them to tell me that i will need a wipe or something like that i have alot of stuff and my onedrive is full so i'm seriously out of space on that. my mediafire keeps getting banned so...yeah. I think i'll try dropbox.
- I have no blue screen either...not a single one...
- The computer runs perfectly fine and just shuts down for days at a time
- I think i will resintall windows later for various reasons
Also if you guys could shed some light on the question that would be lovely but
I have 2 Drives. C: and D: and i store alot of stuff on my D: .When i'm done with a project
i store it on there so its less of a strain on my C: ...So if i reinstall windows 8 , and i am speaking
hypothetically here ... If i were to reinstall windows 8 with that partition i have...would i by any chance
lose all the data on my D: drive?
