Solved How to stop Win8.1 to automatically correct rotated images

If this is already posted, my apologies.

In Windows 8.1, the images that are rotated are corrected automatically. The thumbnails on Explorer as well as the images viewed by Windows Photo Viewer are corrected.
However, when I view these same images on a Windows 7 computer, they are still rotated (thumbnails and Windows Photo Viewer).
Note: the images that are rotated, are imported by Play Memories Home or manually by Explorer.

This may be inconvenient, since it can be difficult to detect duplicates in Windows 8.1.

So how can I set such that Windows 8.1 stops autocorrecting the rotation position of the images in Explorer, so that detection of rotated pictures will be easier? (I mostly use the Win 8.1 computer and not so often the Win 7 computer)

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Try rotating the images by right clicking them and selecting rotate left or right.
It keeps them rotated if you do it that way.

I already do that, but that is once I have detected the rotated pictures.

It is the detection I want it to be easier in Win 8.1.

So are you saying you rotate images in Play Memories Home and when you see them in a folder in Windows 8.1 it rotates them back to their original position?

Can you attach an example of an image which automatically rotates itself back? or send a screenshot of a folder so I can see what you mean?

No, I do not rotate pictures in PMH. But rotated pictures do not only happen with pictures imported from PMH, it also happens with mobile pictures uploaded by OneDrive or when I import mobile pictures manually by Explorer.

I rather use a drawing as example instead of a real picture.
rotated photo at win 7.png
Figure 1: when I view the mobile uploads on my OneDrive folder in a Windows 7 computer, I see that some pictures are rotated to landscape mode, while I made them in portrait mode on my phone. (And when I made pictures in landscape mode, they may be upside down in Explorer)

Figure 2: when I view the mobile uploads on my OneDrive folder in a Windows 8.1 computer, the pictures are automatically corrected to portrait mode. How can I stop Windows 8.1 doing this?

I hope that I explained the example clear enough!

You could just rotate them in Paint & save the new rotated image-

If you keep the same file name & type for the new image it will replace the old one.

I already found an alternative solution by myself: using the free software "JPEG Autorotate" to autorotate my photos, so that I'm ensured that I also view them with the correct orientation in a Win 7 File Explorer (and thus detecting duplicates easier).
