With a 64-bit Windows 8.1 Pro system I'm intermittently getting error events like:
The server {BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
Looking further into it the registry says that server is:
C:\Windows\System32\skydrive.exe
Of course, that's called OneDrive now and is so named in the Group Policy Editor so sometime back I enabled the "Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage" entry.
So why is the event log getting these errors still?
Should I have disabled a service as well as editting Group Policy?
More importantly, perhaps, do I even care about this - it seems Microsoft regularly logs "errors" that aren't errors anyway (*), so maybe this, too, is irrelevant to smooth running?
===========
(*) For example, Microsoft has an obscure sentence somewhere on their site (that's why it's obscure - I can't find it!) that says that "SFC" can find errors that AREN'T errors (the "utc" and "telemetry" errors mentioned elsewhere that cannot be fixed by SFC or DISM).
