    Moving data without USB

    Hello,
let's say all your usb ports are dead, you have a few gigs of data to move to your other computer and your internet speed is terrible, so uploading it all to cloud is your last option.
What are some things to do in situations like this?

    EDIT: CD/DVD also not possible.

Can you copy it to a CD or DVD?

Perhaps try removing the HDD and putting it in a caddy so you can plug it into another PC and so access your files (perhaps running Linux live on the other PC so you can see all the files)

Sorry, I didn't understand this at all, could you please explain it a bit?

Like this. You are essentially removing the drive from the faulty PC and connecting it via an adapter lead to your working PC's USB socket. This allows you to access the drive as if it were an external srorage device. If Windows (for some reason... try it first) would not recognise the drive then try running a Linux Live CD on the good PC as Linux will often access stuff that Windows will not. A Linux Live CD wont install anything on your PC, it runs the Linux OS live from the disc... a bit slow and clunky but it works.

Since you say the USB ports are dead, that eliminates Mooly's suggestion of attaching drive via USB. Are we talking about a laptop or desktop? If the 2nd PC is a desktop then it should be possible to install the hdd from the 1st PC as an additional drive and then copy the data from it.

Another option would be to network the 2 PCs together and transfer the data over the network.

If you have standard ethernet connections on both machines you could use an ethernet crossover cable if you do not want to buy a router.

    Some good suggestions so far.

    One for the future.

It's a desktop PC. That sounds great, is there some kind of a tutorial for this? I'm not much of a pro really.
As for transferring via network, I'm guessing that's the same as uploading to cloud.
