Could someone with an up to date 8.1 install check this.

    The other odd occurrence was this on a reboot following the update install. Recycle bin on D partition corrupt. I don't really believe that it is corrupt tbh. Seems OK.

    I had another look at this and I think I have found the reason... which ARC put me onto. Although my installation is standard W8.1, I'm using the 125% scaling option (control panel>display). If I go to custom scaling and set it at 124% I see one half of the missing 'e' appear. At 100% its correctly displayed.

    What surprised me most was that it must have been like this for a long time... and I was sure I would have seen the error... but obviously not. I wondered if a graphics driver update had been responsible but no... and to prove it I installed an April disk image. Error still there !
