Can't get windows 10 upgrade.

Hi, I am having trouble registering/installing windows 10.

On my laptop I got the registration popup in the taskbar a few weeks ago and entered my details without problem but the option to do this has never appeared on my main pc.
I have tried everything I can from google (various scripts, registry edits, running gwx.exe) and nothing is working.

I have then downloaded the MediaCreationToolx64 from microsoft which runs the windows 10 downloader, this tool opens a window which downloads and then checks files but then simply closes with no message of any kind once it has done this.

I have fully updated windows, checked all the updates are installed necessary for the upgrade, windows is genuine and the pc is reasonably powerful.

Exact specs are:
Windows 8.1 pro
i5 2500k
8gb ddr 3
2x geforce gtx 970
hitachi 250gb ssd
2tb hdd


Please can somebody help me, I have spent the last 2 days tearing my hair out over this and I am supposed to be off work relaxing

Go here, Windows 10 You can either select "Upgrade this PC now", or create install media to do the upgrade with. I used the upgrade this PC now option and upgraded my 4 PC's. One failed setup, but all went fine when I tried it a second time.
