Asus Logo Replaced Windows Boot Logo

In preparation for the Windows 10 upgrade, I wiped my SSD and did a clean reinstall of Windows 8 before using the Windows 10 upgrade. However, after installing Windows 8, my boot logo is no longer the blue Windows logo but the Asus logo. I'm assuming this resulted from some driver update that Windows Update forced on me when I reinstalled Windows 8, but I'm not positive, so it could be something else entirely. I should point out that before I reinstalled, I used Windows 8/8.1 for two years and never had this problem. My hardware has not changed. Even though my motherboard and monitor are made by Asus, this problem never occurred until now. I tried to do another clean install, but the boot logo never reverted to the Windows logo. I'm now on Windows 10, and the boot logo is still the Asus logo. How can I change the boot logo back to the Windows logo?

I've uploaded a picture of the boot screen below, so you can see what's going on. As you can see, above the white dots that keep moving in circles, the Asus logo has replaced the Windows logo.

Most likely from you re-installing the factory image. I think that it is kind of cool.

Is an OEM copy of Windows 8 considered a factory image? Also, why did this happen on this particular reinstallation? I installed on a blank SSD two years ago, reinstalled a few months after due to some screw-up, and possibly (can't really remember) reinstalled again when 8.1 came out, but this problem didn't manifest itself during those times.

If the PC has UEFI BIOS you'll see the OEM logo when you do a UEFI install of 8, 8.1 or Windows 10. I see that on my ASUS laptop on boot up. On my wife's laptop its an Acer logo. Both installs were done with my MSDN Retail ISO's. Om my ASUS desktop PC's its the Windows Logo, they don't have UEFI BIOS so they are legacy installs with the same ISO's. I don't know if the Logo is actually in the BIOS or if Windows puts up what it detects for the OEM. As far as I know you can't change it. There is no setting that I know of to turn it off.

Ahhh, thank you. I built my desktop, but I now suspect it's detecting my Asus motherboard and sticking that logo over the Windows one. I think it only happened on this installation because previous installations used the legacy BIOS and the MBR. I think that was the motherboard's default setting, or I set it that way and forgot about it. This time, I made sure the UEFI BIOS was enabled, so Windows formatted the SSD to use the GPT.

Again, thank you for the help.

I always suspected it wouldn't be there if you did a legacy install instead of a UEFI install but never bothered to confirm it. Now we know the rest of the story.

If your system is booting in legacy mode - you get Windows Logo
If your system in booting in UEFI mode - you get OEM logo
that is the confirmed and know result.. And the easiest way to determine the boot method..
