From what I saw at MS website there are two versions - basic and Pro, with Pro adding support for domains, remote desktop and bitlocker.

Does that mean Basic version will work just fine in small business workgroup environment of up to 10 computers?

I am pretty sure that basic can see unlimited local networks.
Domains support its something different from that.

Pro allows you to lock the computer down, unlike home.

Even though Im just a home user and use my laptop at the small company I work for Ive always paid the extra money for the pro versions of Windows. I like having the options to use bitlocker and the deeper configuration you can get into with the pro feature set. In your situation, it probably wouldnt really matter which you use.

Yes its much better Pro version, and only a little expensive from home edition. I believe that Windows must have only one edition for workstations and others versions are for very specific situations like embedded systems, kiosks, servers and maybe very simple GUIs. Everybody must have full/deep control, If not, that differentiation must be about account's permissions. Otherwise, we have bought a mac ... lol :p
