Hi guys first post so please be gentle

For some strange reason the fonts on my windows 8.1 install have gone really strange

firefox font
https://i.imgur.com/rVfOm9M.jpg

IE font
https://i.imgur.com/dLoUwl8.jpg
see the diffrence?

in firefox the fonts really bad and unreadable
when i log into an old lappy the fonts are all fine on an old vista install with firefox
on Linux Mint the firefox fonts are fine
the fonts are fine in IE as u can see

https://i.imgur.com/MkBqHoi.jpg <-- firefox in youtube
https://i.imgur.com/H71t21N.jpg <--IE in youtube
https://i.imgur.com/yXuVAt5.jpg <-- fonts in main homescreen (which dont look normal either)

firefox used to look like IE did

i have tried to change the fonts in firefox
and in windows

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBxoR4TBdks

i have tried the trick in this youtube video
too no avail

So whats the normal font settings i should need to get it all back to normal?
or should i just not worry as windows 10 will be out soon and im hoping this will fix this issue? or will this issue join me through into windows ten if i just do an upgrade and not a full clean install??
Thanks in advance guys

NOT RELATED TO FONTS..
i did a scannow and this error came up

C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.
-----------

will this issue also be rectified with win 10?

Majority of the time it is just bad website coding. It all depends on the CSS that is used by the website to format the text and webpage. You can change the default font settings, for those websites that do not use a particular CSS sheet.

Your issue could be related to what you are using for a monitor. If you are using a projector or flat screen tv, it has been a long known time, that rendering is horrible on those devices.

As for it will be solved in 10. I really do not see how your isolated issue would have anything to do with what the rest of us are not encountering. Yours is an isolated incident. You are going to have to look at from the standpoint that without physically being at your computing device. There is no way to see what you see.

Running an SFC scan does nothing for what you are seeing. I cannot see what you are talking about, with those posted picture links. They look fine on my laptop when i pulled them up.

i have had this lappy for 7 months and its been tethered to my TV for that amount of time , its only lately that the font has been playing up , on the Tv and on lappy screen also same fonts..HDMI cable , i want to be able to see bald text in youtube and cleaner writing in firefox..the writing looks small and blurry, in IE its fine big and easy readable
anyways its strange how u guys cannot see any diffrence on the screen shots when others could on broadbandchoice when i asked if anyone had issues with firefox..

also the scan now issue , i know that had nothing to do with the fonts but it says there is an issue with windows 8.1 somewhere.. anyways i was wondering if this issue would dissapear when win 10 came along?

As I stated before. If you are using a Flat screen HDTV instead of a real computer monitor. The output will always look like crap. What you see and what we see is not going to be the same. All because we all have different setups and devices that we use.

I bet if you use just your laptop, reset the display back to default, everything will go back to normal and look great.

As for having anything to do with ten. That depends on if you get a different display driver installed or not. It still most likely will not improve the fact that you are using a tv instead of a computer monitor or laptop monitor.

So what was the fix, so you can mark it as solved. That way if someone comes along with the same issue, they will find the fix.

I did mark it as solved. Anyways ill double check when i get home. Im not happy with the support i got here. Had to fix it myself. And also when others have had the issue it goes largely unawnsered.
Anyways one word. Cleartext
Thanks
