Display turns off despite having changed settings

The display on my laptop shuts off after (roughly) 10 minutes of inactivity, despite having changed all of the settings to 'never'.
Is there a simple solution to this that I am unaware of, or is this a more serious issue with my laptop?

Any help would be much appreciated as this is becoming increasingly inconvenient.

Thanks!

Since you're giving NO information about your computer, or what OS you're using, that makes it difficult, at best, to advise you.

Make sure in the "Change advanced power settings" that sleep is also either turned off or to a higher number of minutes. I think sleep and hibernate and all those will turn off the screen as well. I am not sure about hard disk options, but that might also turn off the screen when the hard disk is turned off...

Could be a BIOS setting, but like Mage said, you need to provide make, model, OS, and other relevant information.

As is very obvious, I am not computer-savvy. The laptop is a HP Pavilion 15 with Windows 8.
Hopefully that makes it a little easier to provide a solution.
Thanks again!

I will have a look at the sleep and hibernate settings and see if that makes any difference. Thank-you :)
