My windows 8.1 does not support disk

Hello I am new to this forum. I need help with my win 8.1 so I went to pc world to get some blank DVDs and they said it should support win 8.1. So I put them in and it said unable to read disk. So do I need to upgrade my driver software? My os: Acer Aspire E15 And the disks are a verbatim DVD + R 16X speed 4.7GB.

It isn't a matter of Win 8.1 supporting those disks, it's a matter of the DVD drive supporting them. Do you know if your DVD drive supports DVD+R disks? Your drive may need to use DVD-R disks.
