    How to turn off start menu program previews

    I'm sure most agree that this is the most annoying feature of all windows 8. I've looked so dang hard for an option to turn this off and am completely lost. Please, tell me how to turn this off. To where hovering my cursor near a minimized program doesn't bring up a live preview. Thank you

    Open notepad, and copy+paste this into it.

    Save as a .reg file and merge it into registry.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband]
    "TextHeightPx"=dword:0000000f
    "ThumbSpacingYPx"=dword:00000014
    "ThumbSpacingXPx"=dword:00000014
    "NumThumbnails"=dword:00000000
    "MinThumbSizePx"=dword:000000c8
    "BottomMarginPx"=dword:0000000f
    "RightMarginPx"=dword:0000000f
    "LeftMarginPx"=dword:0000000f
    "TopMarginPx"=dword:0000000f

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
    "ExtendedUIHoverTime"=dword:0001d650

    It is called "Hover Preview", or as Microsoft calls it "Taskbar Thumbnail Preview". Located under "Performance Settings". Press and hold Windows key & W key, then do a search for "Visual Effects". No need to edit the registry for something this simple. How to disable Taskbar Thumbnail preview in Windows 8 ? - Super User

    I just tried it on 8.1 with Start8 and it works when you uncheck "Enable Peek".
