Problem restarting my windows 8.1 laptop.

Dear all,
I have a dell inspiron laptop with windows 8.1 installed.
When i click restart the computer

• turns off> boots > the lists of users get displayed

But as soon as i input my password and click login button, the screen goes blank.Nothing except mouse cursor gets displayed.

This problem is experienced only when restarting.
Shut down works fine.

Please help.
