I bought this computer at the end of May. It's an Acer Aspire TC-605.
Sporadically (sometimes it's OK for 2 weeks, sometimes it's bad twice a day) it hangs.
What happens most of the time is, I come to my computer and it looks like the screen is off, but when moving the mouse or touching keyboard, it never comes back. I have to shut it down by holding the power button.
In that state, if I use Teamviewer to get into the computer, Teamviewer works for maybe 15 seconds until the image also freezes and then the computer becomes unresponsive. Generally, I can see the desktop, move the mouse around, but nothing happens if I click Start button (Classic Shell) or click on programs in the taskbar. And then it freezes totally.
Maybe related:
I've had the cursor and keyboard just stop working and being unresponsive, until the screensaver comes on and later the screen goes off.
Maybe related, maybe not: I've sometimes (not every time) had a BSOD when I connect/disconnect my (very old) Logitech Orbit Quickcam.
(IRQL fault related to LVUVC64.SYS)
Maybe related:
I've done a Windows Driver Verifier, and the system BSOD at boot (IRQL error, USBXHCI.SYS).
What I have done:
- Installed all Windows Updates, also used "Show available updates".
- Updated all drivers from Acer site:
Download Drivers and Manuals | Acer Official Site
- Flashed latest BIOS from Acer.
- Used the Slimdriver tool to update all remaining drivers.
- Installed latest AMD driver for the AMD video card.
However, the Intel chipset driver never updates the date or version, no matter if I use the one from the Acer site or (newer) from Slimdriver
- In Power Options:
* Sleep: sleep after: never; hibernate: never
* USB selective suspend setting: disabled
* PCI Express: Link state power management: off
I don't know what to do anymore.
