Windows 8.1 desktop goes to sleep within two minutes

This sleep issue started after the Windows Update on 7-15-15. I am trying to help out an elderly neighbor who has a new H-P All in One desktop PC. I have gone into "Power Options", the time is set at 10 minutes for sleep mode. I have changed this to other times and also never. Re-booted the system after each change. Still does it. The Screen Saver is shut off (Never was on). Power Plan set as "Balanced". The only external hardware connected to this All in One PC is the wireless mouse and keyboard, and a wireless printer. The printer is not connected via USB cable, just used over wi-fi. No external backup drives connected.I see where Windows 8.1 seems to have a lot of Power Option issues. I have tried a number of suggested fixes that have not helped. Including some on the tutorials here on this site. I have to be missing something in a setting. Or the Windows Updates messed up something in the registry when they installed. Didn't have this issue before.

I am thinking that I could either go into "uninstall a program" and delete the Windows Updates from 7/15/15, and see if that may fix the issue, or go into "System Restore" and restore to a point before the last updates.

What opinions do you have on this? I would appreciate any help you all could give me.

Thank you in advance!

My inclination would be to use a Restore Point. Update uninstalls often fail. Also if the person's PC works pretty well it may be a good idea to set auto update to Never. Otherwise you may be doing a lot of fixing. When many fixes go on at one shot there are just too many variables in the equation. Tracking down the one with the side effect can be very time consuming.

Thanks for the reply MilesAhead. Wednesday's update was a large one. I am suspecting it messed up the Power Options files somehow.
