    My gaming PC randomly freezes

My gaming PC randomly freezes at times when starting up games it freezes for around 5-10 seconds.. My intel driver is updated same goes for my graphics card. My did a windows update around about 3-4 days a go could that affect anything? My PC will freezes at times at start-up also.

Scanned my PC with Avast no viruses found.
Scanned my PC with Malwarebytes nothing found.

    Any suggestions?

Disconnect from the internet completely, then turn off Avast and any/all other programs that might be running in the background, and then try the game..

You don't want things running like Malewarebytes Pro has a "active" scanning that could boggle down your system.. but it's usually not that.. I"m just giving you an example..

what games and do you have that cause issue? and is it all Games or only a few?

Do you have a SSD hard drive? run Crystal disk info and Crystal disk test on it and compare your numbers to others even on here in the forums there is a thread about speed of hard drives....

also could be sound drivers.. you need to go and update everything - Directx , sound drivers, video card, Hard drive firmware if any.. and there is basically an update for a ton of components in your system..

use something like HWinfo to look at all your system specs..

hope this starts getting your brain thinking about things to do..

You have to lookup how to do a clean boot and try that, and then run the game.. stuff like that..

it could be common for the specific games also as I dont know what games are "freezing" and hopefully you aren't just talking about waiting to load the game!

Does not freeze ever during the game, just at the beginning, every game you play, which ones, try different settings in game and does PC ever do this freeze or hang with general use ? If does it on all games and during game play then can be hardware related too,(Heat or even voltage issues) . GTX 780 should handle most games today. How much RAM do you have ?

While playing a game use this and post a screen capture of it afterwards HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID

    Windows 8.1

    Hey,

I reinstalled Windows 8.1 (Advanced) because I had an issue when doing a restore point system.
It was restarting with a blue screen with an error code. So I re-installed Windows 8.1 and it seems fine and running fast again.

But.. Is this right? This is the only programs I have with a re-installed Windows 8.1

Also.. I don't have realtek installed on this fresh Windows 8.1 install do I need to download the manager or should Windows 8.1 installed that also? Thanks!

You mean you used reset or refresh to reinstall, right or clean install from a disc ?

It's a new install with no files from the previous Windows 8.1 I had.
Put in the Windows 8.1 disc and did a new install.

Then of course all your settings and software you put on, will not be put back on, even drivers for hardware.
Refresh settings, apps and files will remain, reset similar to above.

Ah I see. So would I need to download the Realtek HD sound manager from the realtek website or my manufacturer website?

First go to your PC manufacturer's website, select 8.1 there can download all system drivers and some hardware drivers you need back. Go to NVIDIA download newest Graphics card driver again install it. Run Windows update, do all important updates again to. If told me had issues with Restore points would of helped that issue without reinstall.
