    Laptop stopped showing jpg's.

Not sure which forum to put this in, cannot figure out the cause. I had taken several photo's of a few items I wanted to sell via Craigslist. Took pictures using wife's Galaxy S3, took the microSD card out and use am adapter to upload into pictures folder. I was able to place an ad, Unforitunily the items didn't sell, wanted to list somewhere else, but now I cannot view any of these jpg files! Every photo program that came with windows 8.1 and pre-loaded toshiba stuff, along with Adobe photo lite all say they're unable to view these files. Not sure what I can do. Suggestions?

It really helps to know what the file extension the photos have on them.

Probably jpg.....? What does the file extension really matter here? He said he tried multiple programs and they all were unable to open them.

Most any image viewing/editing program can open a jpg image regardless of what the filename or extension is.

    Maybe the images are corrupt.

try using mspaint.exe to open the images.

Are they also corrupt on the MicroSD card? or, only in the pictures folder?

I've found that using MicroSD cards with Samsung Galaxy phones (S3, then, S5) has mixed results. The stuff gets corrupted so often that I copy them to my desktop using Kies 3 soon after I create them. That way, I don't have to deal with the SD card.

The easiest way to check if the files are corrupt is to try them on another computer that you know will open .jpgs just fine.

As a way to simplify the offloading, send the photos to online cloud storage, such as Google Photos, DropBox, OneDrive, Box, etc. This way, the photos are always safe, in the event the phone dies or is lost.

I have no way of checking them on another computer. Mind you, I physically took the sd card out of the phone, and use a usb to microsd adater and loaded time into my pictures folder. ALL of them worked fine. Since then, there's been several windows and adobe (adobe is always updating) and now i just get an error saying "this type of file cannot be viewed" all files are .jpg. (not jpeg). I was even able to do a slide show for my wife, showing her many photo's I had of our daughter on the sd card besides the ones I wish to use for ADs on craigslist.

If you're comfortable with it, you can send me the files and I can tell you if they're corrupt.

Program interference? Try booting to Safe Mode and see if you can view them. If yes, then use Clean Boot to ID the culprit:
