How do you set windows to automatically Sort files & Doc's

HI, I was wondering if there's a way to set the PC to automatically sort your files and documents?

For example: When you download or create a Word Document and you save it to your Document's folder. Instead of it going somewhere in the mix, whether it be on the bottom or in the middle, it's saved randomly. I want it to be saved with all the other Word Doc's in my Document's folder. I know about the view tab, then sort by name then type. I want to have this do it automatically and not have to constantly hit Name then Type in explorer.

Unless I"m missing something here, I just can't get it to always sort like this without having to manually do it each time I open the folder or explorer ..

In this picture you will see an assortment of doc's (In alphabetical order) If I hit TYPE on the top of the explorer window, it will sort them by type...I just want this to be done automatically...

Thanks in advance!

This is sorted by name:

Explorer is finicky. Even some of the stuff that works doesn't work. :)

How about right click on blank spot in Explorer and use "Group By" Type

Yeah, I have done this, but was wondering if there was a way, (Like on a Mac) if I just open my C; drive, and do this, it would automatically sort this stuff and put them in the correct spot automatically every time I add a file/doc. I'm guessing this can't happen automatically?

File Explorer has limited options. You would likely need a 3rd party File Manager that does not just hand over the work to Explorer. I mostly use Explorer so I am not up on the various options of the file managers.

You might look on some lists and review sites:

If you find something great please post. Especially if it is a free 64 bit solution. I used FreeCommander for some time. A nice 32 bit file manager. But I haven't looked at many others.

Still looking...I found some like Mr. Belvedere: Belvedere News, Videos, Reviews and Gossip - Lifehacker But I didn't figure out how to configure it... There were others too, but didn't play nicely with Windows 8....When I find something easy and that works, I"ll post back...

I ised to create folders on my work machine, that I kept files in for what program I created them in.

Now I just throw them on my cloud drive and really do not worry so much about it. Because there are more important things in my life at this point, that take priority.

Sound's Great for you! She don't have a cloud drive and just want's to make her PC a little more manageable with all her kids that use the same PC. or until she can afford 3 more for her triplet sons! So, Thanks for pointing that out... She's still using the Default Documents, Pictures, Music and Video Folders....with a majority of them going to My Document's Folder...She also could get her own PC but can't afford it...So I'm trying to help her out in the mean time...

Sorry, I was appreciative of you trying to help till I read your last Sentence. To her, this is important...
