Windows could not automatically detect this network proxy

Hi,

My internet explorer/Chrome suddenly stopped connecting to internet and when i click on diagnose connection i get Windows could not automatically detect the network Proxy settings.

I have checked the IE LAN settings and it has "Automatically detect settings" set. The Proxy server is unset. I am not sure what caused this. Tried restoring it to earlier restore point but that did not help. Tried releasing ip and renewing it, netsh commands, etc.. nothing seem to work.

I also ran the Malware bytes , Mcafee and found no infections. Would really appreciate if anyone can please help me out.

Get rid of McAfee. It tends to cause more headaches than it is worth. You also cannot run two different security software at the same time.

Have you already tried accessing the internet in Safemode with Networking? If you can access in this mode, then a software / application is conflicting with your browser's proxy server.
