Win8.1 - Nothing in troubleshoot section when restarting

    Hi guys,

I have MSI GP70 and I need to refresh MBR and FixBoot. I am restarting system holding shift to get to command prompt but in TroubleShoot section there is nothing except of link to BIOS.

Why would it be missing and how to restore it ?

If you can still access the normal mode, do this:

    1. Run an elevated command prompt or Run command prompt as administrator.
    2. Type "bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy".
    3. Restart your computer and try accessing Troubleshoot section again.

Thank you so much for replying. I have run this command, but my Win8.1 returned error:

"The boot configuration data store could not be opened.
The requested system device cannot be found"

I have googled this error and it seems that mostly people have issues with access, but using admin cmd helps. In my case whole section seems to be missing
