Never been great with this sort of stuff but this has got me really confused. I was playing Steam this morning and suddenly the game froze. After a couple of minutes it went back to the desktop but the background was black, Chrome was reset (not signed in, no bookmarks, no history, default settings) and all of my documents and pictures were gone. Even more confusing was that Steam was no longer on the installed programs list.
First thought was a virus but none of the scans detected anything so I tried using sfc /scannow and it found corrupt files but couldn't repair them. Then I tried Shadow Explorer and it did find the deleted documents/pictures but when I exported them it says unable to open and most of the pictures are blurred/cut in half.
So I'm just left wondering what the hell happened? I have a backup of most of the documents but not all of them, so any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks
