    Windows 10 invites.....

I have 2 PC's with Windows 8.1 (retail) and I have already received my invites for Windows 10.

I also have a laptop with Windows 7 and I received my invite for Windows 10 on it.

I have an OEM Windows 8.1 tablet (it was shipped from the factory with Windows 8.1) and
the vendor even listed that it would be eligible for the Windows 10 upgrade. I mean, why wouldn't it be.

But, I have not yet received my invitation on my screen.

Are they doing the tablets last?

    It's an IRULU W1002.

I would not worry about the invite. When 10 is ready to be pushed, Windows Update will inform you.

Microsoft is getting really bad about using Nagware a lot these days.

I have not got the upgrade icon or app for my Windows 8.1 Tablet, despite trying numerous 'fixes'. I am not so much interested in the reservation as in the compatibility advisor in case there are things I need to do which I dont know about. I wish Microsoft would just offer a website where we can access the advisor (and reservation) for the thousands who have not been able to get it.

My wish would be for people to relax about their "missing" icons. Seems like people think they won't get Windows 10 if they don't have the icon. As long as your license is legitimate, you'll get Windows 10, nothing to worry about. No one is really guaranteed to get it on the 29th anyway, so there's no need to panic.

In addition, Win 10 isn't all that special so, even if you don't ever get it, you won't be missing much.

I'm not sure why you'd say that. It's been very well received so far. I'd even go so far as to say it is what 8.1 should have been. Microsoft finally realized not every system comes with a touch screen or touch monitor.

    Hi all,
I agree, no reason to be concerned about missing Icons when there
are SO MANY other issues, such as the nagging Windows Help that keeps popping
    up an requested.
My question, although not to important, just curious.
"Why" is MS making the a FREE upgrade.Every time is see the
word FREE in flags oh many colors pop up. Also, unrequested.

Cheers, and Hope all ou USA Neighbors had a great 4th of July

I can't understand why it has been so well received as it doesn't bring very much to the table...

I'm not saying it's bad or anything, it just isn't worth getting excited about. I don't plan to upgrade any of my Win 7 or Win 8 machines, even for free because it isn't worth the bother. I didn't upgrade any of my Win 7 machines to Win 8 when it came out either but eventually built or bought new machines with Win 8. I'm sure the same will happen with Win 10.

As I made clear in my original posting I am not so much concerned about reservation as about the app which scans your computer to check on compatibility with the W10 upgrade. I dont intend to upgrade for a couple of months after the launch anyway. But I do want to know if there are any issues I dont know about, so I can make preparations if necessary. One issue I am now familiar with applies to a lot of us who have 'small devices'. 16 GB of free storage space is required, more than twice what I have on my W8.1 Tablet despite every effort to reduce demands on my storage: and I do not know how I am going to deal with that. No one has come up with useful suggestions though Microsoft is suppose to working on it. The issue is with the upgrade process, not the ability to run W10.
