Windows 8.1 problems!

Hi,
I recently found a nice latitude E5440 Dell laptop somewhere. (It was a company laptop I belive)
it was not accesable without a username & password, so I took it to a man who completely wiped its data,
and he also installed windows 8.1, office, and some other programs for school/work/music. I was using google chrome, then when I tried to use the shortcut, it said it was no longer available/the shortcut does not work. So I opened firefox, same thing happened, opened internet explorer, same thing again. Then I noticed (when i pressed the windows button) that alot of my apps (i.e: Camera, Internet explorer, etc.) were gone. Then out of nowhere, ALL the programs (office,music,etc.) the man installed were gone. Their data was erased? I sent the laptop back for him to fix it, he did, same thing happened again.

And now I cant even sign in as my user *it says : "the user profile service service failed the sign-in"*. Help?!?!

I think you should take it back once again to whomever loaded everything up. If the man knows how to do everything he has done surely he should be able to diagnose what's going on or at least try.

Unless you have some installation media for 8.1 with a valid key and keys for whatever software is installed I think your only option is to return it to the source.

From how you describe it, it sounds like a failing hard drive to me. It may be developing bad sectors and cant read the data any longer and that is why your seeing things dissapear like that. The best thing you could do is return it to the source or have someone take a deeper look into it. Replacing the hard drive may be in order.
