I have a Toshiba laptop - Satellite C55-B5299. Bought new 3 months ago. It came with Windows 8.1. It periodically automatically installs updates from Microsoft. Last night and this morning it did that. During this, it rebooted several times. I did not power it down during any of this.
Anyway- when I now login, the mouse arrow freezes after a few seconds. There is no physical mouse. The laptop has a touchscreen where I move the mouse symbol on the screen. I am not running any apps. I am just logging in.
To overcome the freeze, the only things I can do are a physical pressing of the power button, or using ctl-alt-delete.
The laptop has only a few 3rd party packages. Chrome, Dropbox, OpenOffice 4.1.1.
I have done several reboots. Sometimes the mouse never appears. More often, it appears as described above. When the mouse is frozen, intermittently, a busy circle appears by the mouse arrow.
Any ideas ??? I am stuck. [I am writing this on another computer.]
