    figured it out.
when searching for the app regedt32, the system would find it, but not run.
it was finding the app in the winsxs folder, this also happened when i tried to run the regedit file.
I checked the properties of the file, and that's where i noticed the wrong paths!

    Thx all!

I always use RUN and type in regedit, just an old habit I acquired. I hardly ever use search.

Well can sign into a Microsoft account just to update your apps in metro as you would to download new ones, but not use your Microsoft account every time you log in i found out from Resident Alien.

Used some from this tutorial Windows Store - Sign in with Different Microsoft Account in Windows 8

curious if it's because of accts. as some apps won't run unless you're using a microsoft acct.

I will be using regedit, for changes.
One question, why concern to edit the registry ? As not familiar with doing this can cause more bad then good, no performance gain.

There are some pretty benign sections you can edit that even if mistyped will not do anything bad. Some times its the only way to do something, or undo something. All depends on what your trying to do.

Yes i know things myself about registry was not directed towards you. Just felt to ask concerns of using it, what they wanted to accomplish.
Myself after uninstalling a program sometimes i will use the Find on Menu bar under Edit to look for remains of a software by only using the software's name in the box.
