That there says it all! Right now, at this moment in time, metro apps can do so much, but they can't do it all. That will end up changing by Windows 9-10ish I bet.

Finally we actually agree on something...I really don't have any issues with the lack of aero glass. The less resources an OS uses for nonessential tasks the better. I don't mind the flat look of Windows 8.

I'm thinking there has to be a third party program like "Classic Shell" that will give users aero graphics if they want them.

People buy a Windows PC to run Windows applications. If I buy a Windows tablet it will be to run Windows applications that I can't run on other tablet platforms. This rules out the ARM tablets as they'll only run Metro apps, therefore my tablet would have to run Windows 7 or Windows 8. But if I'm buying it to use conventional Windows apps, Metro offers next to no advantage over Windows 7 for the conventional desktop UI. In fact for me, it just gets in the way of running conventional applications.

Furthermore, there are plenty of good tablets that offer a better user experience than Metro if one is simply looking for a media consumption device or to post silly comments to Twitbook.

Metro needs to be restricted to ARM based tablets and left off of desktop and laptop PCs that are used for real work.

WinRT tablets probably won't do well, only for a niche market I think. Windows slates, the ones that pack AMD and Intel chips, will do real well. Metro will still have a place on those systems though...

Really? I guess it all depends on what you do but I'm not seeing them? Would you mind listing some of those apps so I could have a look see?

He can't be talking about the Music app. It's just so wrong. I mean, it displays such a paltry amount of information in such a useless way, and the rapper ads are never far out of sight. It's like they took the Zune software, which wasn't great to begin with, ripped out features, decreased the information displayed, and added rappers. It's shockingly bad.

I hate the music app as well. It's a downgrade from zune software. Zune software definitely wasn't that well organized or great under the hood but visually it was much more appealing than the new music app especially besides the ads it looks like xbox which gives user no distinguishing factors.

Oh I know! I was impressed how it was improved a lot, but NO WHERE near good. But I think the Music app is just something for the interim since the Zune brand is being killed off later this summer for Xbox Music, Video and on.

This on the other hand, looks promising.
