I got a new Thinkpad, and after going through and uninstalling all of the obvious bloatware viruses, I've found that a lot of the default Lenovo apps, the ones that are actually made by Lenovo rather than third party spyware they're paid to install, are actually pretty useful.
Unfortunately, they all run diagnostic, update, and quick launch services in the background, which you can't turn off or the apps won't work (yes, I've tried). After looking at energy-report.html, I've found that these services prevent the computer from idling to sleep or even turning on the screensaver. After disabling IPv6 and leaving the homegroup, I can get the screensaver to appear, but only if I set it for a 1 or 2 minute timer. Anything long enough to be useful and the Lenovo services interrupt them.
Since I don't want to disable any of the Lenovo services, is there any way to tell Windows 8.1 that only I am allowed to wake it up? As in, nothing can interrupt the screensaver timer except mouse and keyboard, under any circumstances, even if other services request to interrupt the timer?
