I am running Windows 8.1 Pro (32bit). I want to get rid of Windows 10 notifications. I have selected 'Hide icon and notifications' in customize and I have uninstalled update KB3035583. However, I am still getting a popup on the screen for Windows 10. I find this very annoying and want to get rid of it.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hmm, I just used customize notification area , and set the windows 10 to hide Icon and Notification and I don't see it anymore? Its now at the bottom of the list so I can see it if I want to but it's not showing in the notification area?

Thanks. Dunno if it was the right thing to do but, after uninstalling KB3035583 and still seeing the popup, I deleted the GWX folder in Task Scheduler and that eliminated the problem.

If System Restore is turned ON in your PC, you could use that, to go back to before you got that update from MS.
Then just don't allow that update to install on your PC again.

Same for me, Brink's option one same idea and have not tried his others, i am wondering why it is so bothersome to have it for some, it's not a resource hog, unless your not reserving Windows 10 at all want it gone.

It never goes away. It is pretty much Nagware at this point.

The thing that people need to also do when they remove that entry, make sure it is gone in the Registry, and that the System Restore points are cleared as if you are trying to remove a Malware infection. Also make sure the entry is gone in Task Manager.

This Nagware should not even be showing in task. It should only be kept in Windows/Microsoft Update or Windows store. Even Windows store is bad at its Nag's, when it comes to reminding users to update Metro apps.

Now that I think of it. How hard would it be for someone to write up a rule that if gwx is on the unit. That the Service is disabled, when Windows try's to turn it back on and reload the nag software.
