Why is Google Search no longer visible in IE Gallery?

Ok so most of us know that the April IE Cumulative Security Windows update KB3038314 was the culprit preventing users from adding Google as a search provider.

When the May update was released, the ability to add Google Search returned. I checked this and it worked but I did not complete the task at the time.

Today I note that Google Search is no longer available as a search provider in IE Gallery - Vanished?

I can add the Search provider from Google directly but note the pop-up box in IE no longer allows you to select 'turn on search suggestions' it is greyed out. If you add Google and then look in manage add ons - Search Suggestions are marked as unavailable.

Is this by default and if so what is going on between Microsoft and Google. Or am I simply doing something wrong here.?

Look forward to your comments, answers and suggestions.

    Thank you

A comment from me: Wouldn't Microsoft blocking from using other search providers in their browser get them in big trouble with the EU?
    Just get the toolbar.

Well I would have thought so too, but I certainly couldn't find it yesterday and cannot find it today. They have added a new google option to stop tracking!

    Internet Explorer Gallery

I have tried several links and it doesn't appear in the gallery at all. I have even tried IE Gallery for the US and it isn't there either.

I don't want the toolbar, it makes a complete hash of the system, sorry I just don't like it.

They seem intent on hiding it somehow, they locked us out of using it completely in April.

Microsoft has always had relationship issues with their greatest competitors. Those of us that have learned from the past with the TragicX issues. Moved on from IE, to using Firefox or Google Chrome.

The biggest issue with Microsoft & Google, is that they are competing OS manufacturers. If you look at Yahoo Search. It will state "Powered by Microsoft Bing". If you want to use google.com. Set IE to open a new tab to google.com. Or just do like most and type it into the address bar.

Amtimo it has been locked out, because Microsoft does not like to play nice with others.

For me the perfect browser would be IE(sorry it has always been my favorite) with the additional search bar(like in FF) where you can toggle between search engines, and a settings menu like Chrome where it just opens a tab and everything is there, not like IE has no. But this is a moot point, after I upgrade both my PCs to Win10, I'll either be using EDGE or Chrome full time.

If you want, you can manually create your own Search Providers (including ones for Google), by following the instructions in Post #2 at this link.

Unable to recently select Google Search engine in IE11

Note: I crossed out the instructions after posting them, as they had also stopped working after the April update. However those instructions work again now.

As for the option to 'Turn on Search Suggestions', are you sure it was working before? Of all the Search Provider I've used, Amazon was the only website I can remember where Search Suggestions were actually available, I can't remember them ever being available for Google.

Thanks very much, indeed this worked.
