After reading that Win 7 had flicks option where you could use on screen gestures for certain functions, I just read that there are gestures support in windows 8.1
I wanted to find out if we could emulate keypresses like backspace to do BACK or Step Up function with something like two finger slide from right to left, or things like that.
Isn't there any 3rd party app that does that either?

Yes, I have a touchscreen tablet (10" Windows 8.1) but I can't find any information on gestures for general windows programs. Yes there are windows 8.1 specific gestures like swiping down to close the app or swiping from left edge to switch apps, but I am referring to custom touchscreen gestures like if I am in a specific windows (not metro) app and use two fingers to emulate backspace. Is this possible?

Then there should be manufacturer software that you can install and adjust those items. Most stuff like HUD/HID, will be under Mouse in Device Manager.

There are some third party utilities that are specific to certain brands of mice. You may have to go through Majorgeeks.com Download repository to see if there is anything specific to expanding touch screen abilities. Most stuff you will find, is regarding Kiosk or POS systems.

There is nothing in the mouse section, it's pretty plain. I don't think 8.1 has customizable gestures on non windows screens.

I hear that. I am the same way when I think of something and cannot just find the right item that I want. Even if I had done a bunch of searches in forums and on Yahoo or Google. If you do a search for "Windows 8 touchscreen tweaking software. There are a lot of choices out there. Majority of it, is stuff that we all already know about. Majorgeeks.com always has a great software repository. Most times it is just someone taking the time and creating an app or piece of software to fit their needs, then spreading it out on the net for everyone else to use.

Sorry for Sunday. I was running on fumes, because I only got four hours of sleep on Saturday. The weather causes my back to start hurting along with my Bursitis, so I can seem a little upset.
