Update today - Windows 10 Will Be Released July 29th, Reserve Your Free Copy Now

Today, Microsoft has finally announced when it will be rolling out the newest version of Windows: July 29th will be the big day. To prepare for the date, Microsoft is sending out notifications to users of older versions prompting them to reserve their free copy.
The reservation process is simply a way to opt-in to the free upgrade ahead of time. Once it becomes available, if you’ve opted-in, the update will automatically download and install for free. Microsoft hasn’t yet explained any details about how, when, or if the company will start charging for Windows, however it seems likely that you’ll still have a chance to get the free upgrade if you don’t reserve it now. However, if you know you’ll be upgrading, it’s a handy way to expedite the process once July 29th rolls around. If you’re still on the fence about whether or not you want to install Windows 10, here’s everything you need to know.

Press the Windows key on your keyboard along with the R key. The run box should pop up. Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.

    Click on 'View Installed Updates'.

Scroll down until you find KB3035583. Right click on it and then select 'Uninstall'.
Or it can be disabled by disabling/deleting GWX tasks in Task Scheduler's library - Windows - Setup.

I can't believe that people are "furious" that Microsoft is will to give them the next version of Windows for free. It isn't being forced on you, but it isn't going to cost you anything, and by almost all accounts from those (myself included) who are actively testing it, an improved OS.

Proof positive that Microsoft can't make everyone happy. Maybe Windows 11 will need to come with $100 strapped to the packaging.

For those of you that don't want to see the icon in the task bar or receive the notifications, just click on "Customize" in the System Tray and turn the "Get Windows 10" notifications off. There's no need to uninstall any updates.

I completely agree, its amazing isn't it? Apart from the fact I love freebies, I also buy outright that which impresses me. Win 10 is free, if you, or anybody, wants it - go for it - if not damn well ignore it.

I wonder, how long it will be free, until regular payments will be required, like Office 365.

Regular payments? If I pay for anything its one off, no 'regular payments'. I do not 'rent' anything.

What! Not use the newest and best! But then again, I read an article last month, that there are people still using Dial-up(if they can stand the noise, go for it) Resilience to change.
